Oak Corner Computer Desks

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

They don’t make furniture like they used to. The truth of the matter is that most of the furniture that you run into now a days is made of particle board. It’s uncertain whether this is due to the economy, people making attempts to go green, or other factors. One thing is certain though, wood furniture in homes isn’t as common as it used to be.

Oak corner computer desks are elegant and timelessly classic. There’s simply no comparison between particle board corner computer desks and wood corner computer desks in terms of quality. The solidness and sturdiness of the desk can be felt in it’s weight, its thick boards, and its more expensive price.

While you can find corner computer desks constructed out of other types of wood, oak has been a classic popular choice for a long time. Oak corner computer desks come in two main varieties, red and white. The shades of the oak varies from light golden to medium brown. This makes it easy to find a oak corner computer desk to easily blend in with your existing décor. Whether you’re trying to create a rustic look or a modern expensive look, oak corner computer desks are versatile enough to play either part depending on the style that you choose.

Oak corner computer desks are also a great choice for people with children. Oak is incredibly durable and is able to stand up to most typical rough and tumble. The solidness of the wood holds steady when bumped against, so you don’t have to worry so much about things getting knocked over on the desk.

While oak corner computer desks are resistant to most elements, they can be damaged by corrosive materials spilt and left to sit on the wood. On the plus side, they’re incredibly easy to care for. Wipe any spills off of the wood surface quickly and your desk should be just find. Standard care of oak corner computer desks is just as simple. All you have to do is wipe down the desk about once a week to keep it in tip top shape.

Oak furniture is a great choice for someone looking to add classic style to their home. It’s beautiful, sturdy, and easy to care for and maintain. Next time you’re shopping for a solid wood piece of furniture, you should definitely see what you can find in oak.

Most corner computer desks come in a standard wood tone. While this is great for most instances, sometimes your home décor calls for something a little different. Black and white are two popular and modern looking color schemes to work with. While some people choose to mix the two, others like to completely dominate their home décor color scheme with one or the other color.

Luckily, you can find corner computer desks in either color. The pickings are a bit more sparse, but they do exist. The question is, what color do you want to go with and what style of desk are you looking for.

Many people like to pair white walls with all black furniture and vice versa. This contrasting color effect gives a modern feel to a room. Some people even take things a step further and alternate the color of their furniture with the color of the art work and accessories in the room.

White corner computer desks make a room look clean. White is often thought to resemble purity. The only problem with white furniture is that it seems to be hard to keep clean. Not that it particularly gets any dirtier than any other piece of furniture, it’s just that small specks of dirt can stick out like a beacon on the white surface.

Another great thing about white furniture is that it gives the illusion of space. While white corner computer desks already conserve room, the illusive spaciousness that they convey makes them all the more appealing. They’re a great idea for those trying to make a small room appear bigger.

Contrasting black and white will continue to be a popular method for creating modern décor and casting illusions of the spaciousness of various rooms. Your choice of color will largely depend on your already existing furniture pieces, the color that your walls are painted, and the color of your carpet.

Advantages of Compact Corner Computer Desks

Let’s face it, most people think that bigger is better, but that’s not always the case when you don’t have a lot to work with. Believe it or not, the saying is true, sometimes big things do come in small packages, and so is the case with compact corner computer desks.

One of the obvious reasons that people shop for compact corner computer desks is to save space. We don’t all live in mansions, but most of us do have computers. It’s almost a necessity to have one now a days, and it’s about as equally important to have a place to put one. For apartment dwellers, college students living in dorms, and those sharing small spaces, these types of computer desks are the perfect solution.

What most compact corner computer desks don’t make up for in size, they do make up for in height. For the most part, these desks come with tiered shelving that provides, in most cases, just as much room as the standard spacious square desk. Thought is given to your peripherals as well, and often times these computer desks even come with CD storage shelving.

Another great advantage of compact corner desks is that they’re typically light weight which makes them perfect for people who move around a lot. Whether you’re in the military or a college student running back and forth from home to school, these desks make quickly relocating a lot less of a sweat. Most only weigh around 50 pounds, which is an easily manageable weight for most people. And some even have wheels on the bottom.

There are plenty of other advantages to owning one of these desks, such as the fact that many of them are made out of eco-friendly materials. So if you’re looking to save space, need a lot of shelving for your computer equipment, happen to move around a lot, and are trying to go green then a this type of desk is the obvious choice. Even if you only need your desk to accommodate one of the above listed advantages, a compact corner desk is a pretty wise choice.

We’re not all made of a million dollars. Perhaps you need to save space and pinch your penny to the fullest. While you can get some great deals on corner computer desks online, sometimes you can find even better deals locally. So, here’s the skinny on a few places where you can find some discount corner computer desks.

Craigslist

Craigslist is the king of low cost, and often times free, local furniture. If you pulled up a search for “corner computer desk” in the For Sale section of Craigslist, you’re almost guaranteed to find something. A lot of the times, people are moving and would be willing to part with their furniture for a small fee just so that they won’t have to go through the hassle of moving it. The downside to this is that most people on Craigslist expect you to move the desk on your own. Needless to say, if you’re going to shop for discount corner computer desks on Craigslist then you probably should either own a truck or know someone who owns a truck and would be willing to help you move the desk.

Second Hand Stores and Discount Marts

The Salvation Army is one of my personal favorite places to look at gently used furniture. It’s less expensive than Goodwill and their furniture selection is much more vast. While pickings can be slim as far as discount corner computer desks go at second hand stores, you might have better luck shopping at Discount Marts. Discount Marts typically sell aesthetically defective furniture items at a reduced price. All items are completely functional, but there will likely be a minute flaw with the piece that most people wouldn’t notice. For example, your desk might have a small dent or ding in it that someone paying full price for the item might complain about. Your reward for taking the slightly damaged merchandise is to get a good percentage marked off of the retail price, giving you a new piece of furniture at a great discount.

Garage Sales and Flee Markets

This requires a bit more footwork, but garage sales are a great place to pick up used furniture for a fraction of the normal retail pricing. Finding exactly what you’re looking for can be hit or miss with this method, but when you find a gem, it’s usually a steal. As with Craigslist, the majority of the time the desks you’ll find at garage sales and flee markets will be fully assembled and you’ll be expected to have your own transportation to move them with.

Well, there’s some food for though when shopping for discount corner computer desks. Curl up in front of your computer and do a search on Craigslist, call a few of the second hand stores and discounts marts in your area to see what’s in stock, or hop in the truck and spend a leisurely day cruising around town garage sale and flee market shopping. Whatever method you choose, I’m sure you’ll be enjoying a new addition to your home furnishings in no time.

Black Computer Desk

Corner computer desks typically come in a few different colors: wood grain (whether it be cherry, oak, or some other natural color), white, and black. Amoung these, wood grain are currently the most commonly manufactured and sold corner computer desks on the market today. Sometimes it may even be difficult to find corner computer desks in white or black from your local retailers. That is when it’s best to turn your attention online.

A black computer desk can be aesthetically pleasing in the right situation. They go great with light colored carpet and can become an incredibly stylish piece of furniture when paired with the right home decor. I’m reminded of pictures in magazines where they show the decor ensemble of a completely white decorated room with black furniture. It creates a very modern and clean statement in my eyes. It also makes a room look very expensive.

Though you might have a hard time finding a black computer desk, it could be well worth your search. Black blends in with just about any color scheme. It’s sleek looking and can add just the right hint of personality to a room.

You best chance to find variety when you’re shopping for a black computer desk is to look online. There are many large scale retailers and even small online businesses the stock black computer desks. For a larger variety in one place though, you might be inclined to check and auction site or a seller marketplace, such as eBay or Amazon.

Take your time shopping around for the best deals . . . and just shopping in general. If you run out and buy the first black computer desk you find you might regret it later when you’re casually browsing online and you see something you wish you would have searched harder to find in the first place. Or, you could always buy that second one and stick it in another room.

Some people just have a lot of money to spend. Must be nice. If you’re one of those people then I’ve created this list just for you. Pretty sweet, eh? Happy shopping!

With the economy in shambles, and more and more people ending up in apartment complexes, there are two very common needs to be filled when shopping for a new corner computer desk. The first one is to save money. The second one is to save space.

We all know that the world of shopping is vast. There are tons of retail stores out their dying to get a hold of your money with the promises of saving you a buck or two. Here are the face though:

1.) Brick and mortar stores have expenses that many online stores don’t.

2.) Even when retail stores claim to be saving you a buck, they’re likely jacking up the price at around 30% of wholesale value.

3.) The selection is usually minimal at best.

I’m not knocking all retail establishments though. There are a few places where you can get a good deal. As far as traditional brick and mortar stores go, I’d recommend Walmart for low prices. The only problem is lack of selection. Another good retailer would be Big Lots, depending on if your city has them or not. You can even sometimes find inexpensive corner computer desks at the Family Dollar Store. But, many of them don’t sell furniture at all, so it’s kind of hit or miss.

Or if you don’t mind purchasing a used unit, you can often get great deals at second hand shops such as Goodwill. Garage sales and flee markets are another way to find good deals on used furniture. But corner computer desks are in such a small specific niche that it might by like looking for a needle in a haystack. I guess it all depends on how much time you’re willing to spend shopping around for one.

My favorite choice is utilizing technology to help simplify the shopping process. Thanks to the internet, you have an almost unlimited variety of corner computer desks right at your fingertips from an almost equality limitless supply of retailers, wholesales, and consumer vendors. A lot of times you can get your corner computer desk cheaper online because most online business owners don’t incur the same expenses as traditional brick and mortar stores so they’re able to offer lower prices on the same products. And, if you’re going the extra thrifty method, you can sometimes even find corner computer desks for free on CraigsList from people that are moving or upgrading to a new computer desk. You can’t beat free.

So, there you have it people. I’ve given you an arsenal of options to choose from. Now go out and find the corner computer desk of your dreams!

Pretty much anyone who owns a computer has shopped for a computer desk before. Many decide to narrow their search down to corner computer desks due to their space saving attribute. But there are many other things to ponder on your search for the perfect computer desk.

Size

If someone has ever told you that size doesn’t matter . . . they lied. The size of your corner computer desk is probably one of the biggest considerations you’ll make. If you’re trying to fit your new corner computer desk in a cramped space, it’s a wise idea to take measurements first. Luckily, corner computer desks come in many different sizes, from compact to large enough to take up half a wall on both sides of the room (depending on how big the room is, of course).

Shelf Space

Some people follow the KISS (keep it simple stupid) method and clutter their desks with as little as possible. However, for those of us who like to plug so many peripherals into our computers that we could suck the electricity out of half a street block, you’ll probably need a lot of shelving for your electronic treasures. Some desks come with tiers and different set ups for your devices. Many include a CPU shelf and printer platform. You can even get some of the most compact corner computer desks that have extra shelving for all of your peripheral needs.

Price

Yeah, you knew I would get to it. We don’t all have a money tree growing in our backyards. And even for those of us who do, not all of us want to sink a grand into a corner computer desk. What you’re willing to spend will depend largely on your budget and the functionality you’re looking for in a corner computer desk. The average student can likely get away with spending around or under $100, while someone who works from home, has a lot of peripherals, and needs a ton of desk space may have to spend between $400 – $900 to get the kind of desk that they need.

Material

There are also more minor considerations, such as the material that the corner computer desk is made out of. Some people have a preference for solid wood while others are content with particle board, as long as it holds together well. You can even buy desks made out of recycled wood to help the environment. On the more expensive side, they even have desks with marble desk tops. Whoda thunk it, right?

Portability

Truth of the matter is, if you buy a solid wood computer desk, it’s most likely going to weigh over 100lbs. Not fun to move, especially if you tend to relocate a lot. It should also be noted that you pretty much can’t buy a wood desk with rollers. So, unless you have a fetish for pain and suffering, if you purchase a solid wood corner computer desk, it’s probably going to be a set it and forget it ordeal. For those that do move around a lot, you might consider something lighter, like a desk made from particle board or one with rollers on the bottom.

Assembly

Let’s face it, we’re not all mechanically inclined. And sometimes we look at those assembly instructions and they look like they were written in some foreign languages. Heck, sometimes the picture on the assembly instructions doesn’t look like the same desk that you bough. And remember those heavy wooden desks we were just talking about? Can you imagine putting one together . . . by yourself. Some of the panels alone on those weigh too much for one person to hold up and screw together at the same time. I definitely recommend doing a bit of research on assembly before making a purchase. It can be the difference between enjoying your newly assembled corner computer desk within five minutes or spending five hours pulling your hair out in the middle of a pile of paneling that, at that moment, you’re probably considering using as kindling.

Buying Online Or At A Store

This is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make on your path to buying a corner computer desk, and a no brainer to some of us. Odds are, unless you’re buying a really small corner computer desk, you’ll probably have to have a truck to move it. With the economy taking a nose dive and people switching to driving economy vehicles, it’s probably safe to say that the majority of the people in the market for a corner computer desk do not own a vehicle large enough to transport it from the store back to their home. However, buying in a traditional brick and mortar store does give you one advantage. Most stores will have a model on display so that you know exactly what you’re buying before you purchase it. You get a type of test driving of the merchandise that you can’t get online. However, odds are that you’ll have a lot less models to choose from and the prices of even the models that are in store will be a lot higher than what you can find online.

This is pretty much a complete list of considerations. You can use the list above to form a series of questions. Once you have the answers, you can narrow down to the perfect corner computer desk for you. Do some research online, and you’ll be sitting at the corner computer desk of your dreams in no time.
